After 7.5 seasons of the show Girlfriends has been officially canceled in the middle of its 8th season. What makes matters worse is the show was canceled right after the writers strike ended. Sources say that the hour long run on Monday were the final episodes of the show.The show only recorded 13 of the planned 22 episodes. if gfirlfriends would've lasted one more season it would have been the longest african american sitcom ever.

Actually "The Jeffersons" lasted fo 11 seasons that's 11 years. "Family Matters" 9 seasons that's 9 years. 1974-1985 Jefferson's and 1989-1998 for Family Matters. So girl friends were close to Family Matters and The Cosby Show did 8 seasona already too.
