New performers for the VMA's

MTV has announced that Akon 50 Cent and Soulja boy will be performing at the VMA's. Other performers include Kanye West, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Ceelo, Common and Gym Class Heroes. The VMA's will air September 9.

This is going to be one of the hottest VMA's in a long time. I can't wait!!

Do we have to blame hip hop for everything?

this is a peice of an article form VH1:
The Michael Vick dog fighting case has created many victims. First, you have the alleged victims: the dogs. There are also the Atlanta Falcons, who are out a quarterback. And there's hip-hop. Yes, hip-hop.

Vick's indictment on federal charges related to a dogfighting ring allegedly run on his Virginia property — to which he agreed to plead guilty on Monday (August 20) — has brought the brutal blood sport into the public consciousness. And hip-hop is one of the only outlets in America where you'll find references to it. Dogfighting's presence in videos and lyrics led to critical newspaper editorials and columns, along with on-air berating from Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly.

All of them addressed the same explicit examples: The scene in Jay-Z's "99 Problems" video where everyone is getting ready for a big dogfight just as Jigga goes down, DMX's album Grand Champ (which is the title given to a dog that wins five matches without a loss), and DVDs of dogfights sold alongside mixtapes in some parts of the country.

There was also a lot of grumbling about the less blatant examples: Pit bulls seem to be the breed of choice among rappers, appearing on many album covers and in numerous videos — without direct references to fighting, but nearly always looking threatening. Rappers and video directors seem to love playing up the same features that make the breed so popular with dogfighters.

"That pit bull, it's a statement dog — it's that beast dog that you have to have," said Bow Wow, whose first video, "Bounce With Me," featured the then-12-year-old morphing from a running pit bull. "Those are the go-get-'em dogs that are really going to protect you and get down. When they bite you and lock their jaws, there is no escaping that."

Despite the glamorization of pits in videos and magazines, most of the imagery doesn't actually show them fighting — and it's worth noting that voices inside hip-hop have been critical of Vick. Russell Simmons was one of the first public figures to call on Nike to pull Vick sneakers. Producer Just Blaze posted a scathing criticism of the quarterback on his blog, citing his love for his own dog as justification for his suggestion of throwing Vick "in a pool and [letting him] play catch with a few hair dryers."

My opinion: This is getting extremely old. I'm starting to believe that the media uses hip hop as an excuse for everything bad that happens. It's like the slogan for them is "when all else fails blame hip hop." Its not like every other genre of music is extremely clean and it doesn't influence people. As we just read there are people in the hip hop industry that are disgusted with Vicks behavior.So why are we make it like hip hop was his influence?

Singer Amy Winehouse and her husband,Blake, were seen covered in bruises and blood yesterday around 4:30 A.M. It is said that they got into a violent fight after he tried to stop her from using drugs and self-mutilating herself.A witness gave details to the whole incident:

"Amy was in floods of tears. This guy was screaming at her.

"She was cowering in the corner and I thought he was going to hit her. When the lift door opened, she took off across the lobby at a real pace.

"He was chasing after her and was about five paces behind by the time she got to the main hotel entrance."

The couple then dashed into the street.

An eyewitness said: "Just after 3am, Amy came sprinting out and down the road.

"She was in a real state of panic. Blake was running after her, but couldn't catch up.

"Amy was so hell-bent on getting away from him that she ran into the middle of the street and flagged down a random car that happened to be full of girls.

"She was saying, 'Quickly, I have to get in, I have to get away, please help me'.

"Her voice was breaking, you could tell she was scared.

"The car drove off at speed and ended up about a mile away at Charing Cross station. Amy got out and went into a 24-hour shop to buy cigarettes.

"She was looking completely out of her head. Blake ran after the car for a while. He spent the next halfhour or so wandering around in a daze with blood over his face, looking in doorways for her, shouting her name out.

"Eventually, he got through to her on the mobile.


"There were a lot of tears and shouting, but they calmed down and met up at around 4am and slowly walked back to the hotel arm-in-arm. They got back at 4.45am."

my opinion:If all of this happened because of drugs, then Amy needs som help. She talented and i would hate to see it all be ruined because of drugs. I hope that she can get it together before it is too late

Kelly Rowland will be re-releasing Ms. Kelly. Due to poor album sales She will be recording new songs and re-releasing the album. They are hoping this will increase sales.


My opinion- I had faith in Kelly but I have to admit I really didn't like the album. My advice to Kelly is to just leave it alone and work on a new album all together.

50 Cent talking noise.....again

This is from an intervew with MTV. He is talking about Kanye West and himself:
He also said he won't stop making solo albums even if Kanye West, whose album Graduation is due the same day as Curtis, outsells his LP, as had been reported (see "50 Cent, Kanye Lead Fall Album Rush — Mariah, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Alicia Keys Follow").

While he called West a talented producer, he also said the Chicago MC is a "worker bee" while he's a "boss." 50 emphasized the importance of album sales, saying that West selling more would mean that "he did a better job than me on his album."

"Look at how you're talking to me, like Kanye West is my equal right now," 50 said, launching into a rather imprecise comparison. "That's like me putting myself against Michael Jackson's [album-release] date and then acting like, 'Woah, it's a battle between 50 Cent and Michael Jackson!', when Thriller sold 30 million records and 50 Cent's biggest album sold 12 [million], you feel what I'm saying?

"Don't get lost in the hype," he continued. "I got the right records, so we're gonna sit here and I'll see you next time. Maybe next time they can send me off to the pastures. But right now, I'm gonna stick around and sell this record — and I will be #1 on September 11."

my opinion: 50 is talking real hot right now. This album better be everything he claims it to be.And I guess he changed his mind about not releasing solo albums if Kanye sells more.

50 Cent says he will quit if kanye sells more

50 Cent has recently stated in an interview that if kanye west sells more than him he will not release any more solo albums.

"If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music,I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums."

There won't be a debate between 50 and Kanye afterall

Kanye west has refused to have a debate with 50 cent for their new albums that will be released on 9/11/07. although debate was quickly accepted by 50 Cent, Kanye feels that it is pointless. Kanye stated."I don't have beef with anyone,What am I going to debate about? I’m going to go in the studio and make music. When I heard the thing about the debate, I thought that was the stupidest thing."


My opinion: I think the debate would've been a good idea. It would give both albums publicity. Maybe he will change his mind
